Message from the TC Chair Gerard Gissinger

The target of TC 7.1 for SEOUL was to be able to organize enough Automotive Control sessions to obtain a significant a "RED LINE" through the World Congress. We planned invited sessions, regular sessions, a poster session and a round table. Our Korean colleagues were organizing a Korean Automotive Highlight Program. The possibility to merge this two events appeared during the review process.
The final result is the following: 5 invited sessions (a session = 6 twenty minutes papers), 14 regular sessions (7 in the field of chassis control, 6 in the field of powertrain, including hybrid vehicles, 1 special session for the "Korean Automotive Hightlight Program"), 1 Round Table, 1 poster session with 25 posters.
Every paper had, at least , two reviews, if possible three. The paper quality level was really good and the rejection rate relatively low. 130 papers have been accepted from more then 160 proposals (TC 7.1 was prepared to review about 70 to 80 papers!). The quality of the proposal will probably be recognized through recommendations for different journal publications. We have also possible candidates for an award of best publication.
Dear colleague, as you can see, the World Congress in Seoul 2008 is a very attractive event for our community. The idea about a RED LINE, discussed in PRAGUE will certainly be a real success. I would like thank all of you for your paper proposal, for your participation in TC 7.1 and for your help !

See you in SEOUL

Gerard
