Sergio M. Savaresi was born in Manerbio, Italy, on September 21st, 1968. He received the MSc in Electrical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano in 1992, the PhD in Systems and Control Engineering in 1997, and the MSc in Mathematics from the Universitą Cattolica in 2002. In 1998 he worked at McKinsey&Co. Since 1999 he has been with the Politecnico di Milano, where he is currently Associate Professor in Automatic Control. He has been visiting researcher at Lund University, Sweden, at University of Twente, The Netherlans, at Canberra National University, Australia, and at Minnesota University at Minneapolis, USA. He is Associate Editor of the European Journal of Control. His main interests are in the areas of vehicles control, automotive systems, data analysis and system identification, non-linear control theory, and control applications. Main areas of interest in the field of automotive control: active and semi-active suspension; magneto-rheological dampers; stability control of 4-wheel and 2-wheel vehicles; brake-by-wire; braking control; transmission control in agricultural tractors; electric and hybrid vehicles.
