Max Mauro Santos was born in Brazil in 1968. He received B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Catholic Institute of Minas Gerais in Brazil, in 1993, the M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil, in 1996; the Ph.D. degree in Production Engineering from Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil, in 2004 and the Pos-Doctor in Electrical Engineering from University of Aveiro in Portugal, in 2005/2006.

Currently he is Associate Professor and Supervisor in Grupo de Pesquisas em Sistemas de Tempo Real (STR) from Centro Universitário do Leste de Minas Gerais (UnilesteMG). He worked at IBM and IBM USA as Automation Engineering and worked as professor in several universities as Catholic Institute of Minas Gerais (ICMG-MG), Fedral University of Vale do Rio Doce (UNIVALE-MG), University of Vale Itajaí (UNIVALI-SC), Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC-SC), University of Plateau Catarinense (UNIPLAC), Integrated Colleges of Caratinga (FIC-MG) and Ecole Centrale de Nantes (ECN-France). Visiting Professor in Faculty of Engineering from Porto University, in 2003 and the Institut de Recherche en Communications et Cybertnétique of Nantes – IRCCYN, in 2008. He is an Associate Editor of the "International Journal of Systems, Control and Communications - IJSCC" ISSN 1755-9340 (Print), 1755-9359 (Online) and "Electronic Journal of Information Systems - RESI" ISSN 1677-3071.

Member of the Production Engineering Course (CEP) and Research Assessor Committee (CAP) from UnilesteMG. Consultant Ad-Hoc from FAPEMIG; Reviewer at Graduate Course and Institutions of Higher Education by INEP/MEC; Founding Partner of the Brazilian Association of Electric Vehicles (ABVE); Coordinator of 1st Contest Papers in Electric Vehicles, (ABVE); Instructor of the Brazilian Association of Automotive Engineering (AEA); Instructor of the Brazilian Association of Metallurgy and Materials (ABM). He was consultant and instructor in the areas of industrial networks and networks of various automotive companies such as RCS, USIMINAS, ACESITA, FORD, AEA, Ciclo Engenharia, Senai/CIMATEC, GRABER, CNH and others.
