Huei Peng is currently a Professor of the Department
of Mechanical Engineering, and the Director of Automotive Engineering
Program, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research
interests include adaptive control and optimal control, with
emphasis on their applications to vehicular and transportation
systems—including automated highways, active suspensions, rollover
prevention and prediction, driver modeling, adaptive cruise
control, collision warning and avoidance, automatic transmissions,
hybrid and fuel cell vehicles. He has more than 130 technical
publications, including 50 in referred journals and transactions.
Dr. Peng has been an active member of SAE and the ASME Dynamic
System and Control Division (DSCD). He served as the chair of
the ASME DSCD Transportation Panel from 1995 to 1997, and is
now a member of the Executive Committee of ASME DSCD. He served
as an Associate Editor for the IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics
from 1998-2004 and is currently an Associate Editor for the
ASME Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement and Control. He
received the National Science Foundation (NSF) Career award
in 1998.
